Univerbation of qaws Alla, literally bow of God, from Arabic قَوْس الله (qaws allāh, bow of God), pious alteration of قَوْس قُزَح (qaws quzaḥ), which was named after a pre-Islamic deity, but continues to be the predominant form in Arabic.
