Hungarian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Uncertain. First attested in 1746. Perhaps it is derived from the noun vas (“iron”), but the method of derivation is irregular. For a similar derivation, compare nehézkes (“cumbersome”). The formation of the different senses may have been also influenced by the adjective vastag (“thick”).[1]
