“Afraid” is better in all these sentences because the fear is ongoing. If you are always frightened by ghosts you are afraid of ghosts.
If you were frightened once by a ghost, a ghost scared you.

A) strong-minded is not a phrase that is used often. It is more natural to say "brave":

"Really? You are brave!"

A: to reach great heights sounds a bit more natural but you can still use this, like "you will go on to achieve great heights" if you are successful
