The Shakha Paula are worn by Bengali married women. The white bangle, Shakha, is made of conch shell, and has carvings on it. The red one, Paula, is made of coral and is smooth. In the olden days, they also wore Loha, an iron bangle. The Shakha Paula and sindoor are the mark of a married woman.
