As with Narcissa's marriage connections, the Lestranges are a very old and very wealthy magical family. I wanted to reimagine this wand in its prime and before Bellatrix's imprisonment to Azkaban. The scales around the handle represent not that of the typical snake (like her school house sigil) but a different cold blooded, unfeeling reptile. And the little kink on the blade of the wands show the dormant madness in her personality (not yet truly revealed until after her imprisonment).
