This is a cinder cone volcano.  Cinder cone volcanoes have a bowl shaped crater at the top of the volcano. The rock fragments are glassy and contain gas bubbles frozen into place . Cinder cones do not cause very destructive eruptions because the lava and debris that comes out dries very quickly.
