Your Europe – Advice
If the information on Your Europe does not answer all your questions or solve your problem, you can get free, personalised advice on your EU rights in a real (not theoretical) situation from an expert by contacting Your Europe – Advice.
Even though the Your Europe website team make every effort to explain everything you need to know about living, working, studying, shopping, travelling and doing business in the EU, you may need specialised help.
How does it work?
If you’ve searched the website and still can’t find the answer to your question, look for the button at the bottom of each page labelled “Get help and advice”. Or, you can click on “Contact assistance services” in the menu at the top of each page.
You will be guided to the most appropriate service to help you, and Your Europe – Advice is one of them. Your Europe – Advice accepts your question in any of the 24 official languages of the EU and forwards it to an expert. You should get a response within one week.
This free service is provided by legal experts from the European Citizen Action Service (ECAS), operating under contract with the European Commission. The team is made up of more than 55 independent lawyers familiar with both EU law and national laws in all EU countries. These experts may liaise with another Commission service called SOLVIT, which can help you or your company if a national authority is incorrectly applying EU law.
Who can use Your Europe – Advice?
The service is open to
- EU nationals
- nationals of EEA countries (Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein)
- family members of EU/EEA nationals
- non-EU nationals if they enjoy EU rights
- businesses (with headquarters located in an EU country)
- European and national information and advice services on behalf of individuals (excluding law firms, tax advisers, consultants and similar entities).
Please note that the Your Europe – Advice team cannot
- help you with issues relating exclusively to national law
- give in-depth legal advice
- offer face-to-face meetings
- take a legal case on your behalf
- answer questions about funding programmes.
