1913 was not a good year for Middletown, Ohio. This picture doesn't show the half of it; it was really much worse than this. All of the water, sewer and gas mains were washed away to a depth of 8-10 feet. People and livestock perished, and buildings were destroyed. There were people who actually traveled to Middletown to gawk at the destruction after the flood as a form of amusement. "THE JUG" on Central Ave. in Middletown, Ohio.  (The Jug, August 1948)  Serving their first hamburger in May of 1932, The Jug drive-in restaurant was originally located on South Main Street on the edge of Barnitz Field. In August 1948 it moved to the corner of Highview Road and Central Avenue where it remained for several years. When the service station was built on that corner the drive-in restaurant was moved to the next lot - 3610 Central Avenue, where it still remains.
