Confirmation: A sacrament of initiation that completes the grace of Baptism and is usually administered by a bishop. It consists of the laying on of hands, anointing on the forehead with chrism, and prayer. The words of Confirmation are “be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit.” In Confirmation, a person confirms his or her relationship with Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Confirmation strengthens those who receive it to live the faith and become more active members in the Church.
