あなたの年齢が高いほど、今になってことわざを見返すと、痛いほど意味がよくわかると思う。
最近になって自分が強烈に感じたことが、すでにことわざなどで表現されているものが大半だということに気が付いた。
簡単に思い浮かべたもので言うと「好きこそものの上手なれ」「かわいい子には旅をさせよ」「百聞は一見に如かず」とか。
本当にそう思う。
上手になりたきゃ好きになるべきだし、
子が可愛ければ「旅」をさせるべきだし、
百聞は一見に如かねえ(?)と思う。
本当に、痛感する。習った当時は「へぇ、そんなことわざがあるのか」と鼻をほじって聞き流していたが、今になって「(意味は知ってたけど)これのことか…！(絶望or興奮)」となることが多い。
参考にしたサイトはこれ。小学生用だが、これで十分だと思う。
ほぼすべてに「アレに当てはまるなぁ…」と思い当たることがある。
序盤に「あなたの年齢が高いほど、」と言った意味はこれである。今までに「経験」が多ければ多いほど、あてはまる出来事が多い。言い出したらキリがないので例はこれ以上あげない。ネガティブなことが多いし…。
逆に、「これ使うときレアだなぁ」と思うことわざもあって面白い。
例えば「江戸の敵を長崎で討つ」。
意味は「意外なところで、昔の恨みを晴らすことのたとえ。」だそうだ。
バック・トゥ・ザ・フューチャーpart1で未来に帰ってきたときに、ビフが父のジョージの使用人として雇われていたことが浮かんだ。例えとして合っているかは不明だが、思いついたから言いたかっただけです。
私は割と映画をよく観る方なのだが、バック・トゥ・ザ・フューチャーは「誰が観ても最高に面白い」という映画だと思う。人におすすめ映画を聞かれたら、通ぶってマイナーな映画をおすすめするよりも、結局これが最強だと思っている。しかもpart1からpart3まで全部面白い。興奮、わくわくする。
…映画の話に逸れた。

And 'seeing is believing'—so true.
I really feel this deeply. Back when I first learned these proverbs, I just thought, 'Oh, so there’s a saying like that,' while absentmindedly picking my nose. But now, I often have moments where I go, '(I knew the meaning, but…) So this is what it meant…! (cue despair or excitement).'

Almost every proverb makes me think, 'Oh, that totally applies to that situation…'
That’s what I meant by 'the older you get.' The more experiences you have, the more situations you can relate to these proverbs. If I started listing them all, there’d be no end to it—and honestly, most of them are pretty negative…
On the other hand, some proverbs feel so rare to use that it’s amusing.
For example, 'Avenge Edo in Nagasaki.'
It means 'to take revenge in an unexpected place, long after the original event.'
It reminded me of Back to the Future Part 1, when Marty returns to the future and finds that Biff is now working for his father, George. I don’t know if that’s the best example, but it just popped into my head, so I had to mention it.
I watch quite a lot of movies, and I genuinely think Back to the Future is 'a movie that anyone would find absolutely amazing.' If someone asks me for a movie recommendation, instead of trying to sound cool by suggesting some obscure film, I just go with this one—because it’s unbeatable. Plus, all three parts are amazing. Exciting and thrilling from start to finish.
