🚦This week BNP Paribas is joining the EuropeanMobilityWeek as it supports its employees in financing a more sustainable mobility. Within the same Group, transport habits and uses can vary. So, for this to work, it's essential for the bank to offer its employees solutions adapted to their needs. Let’s see how it works in 3 different countries: France 🇫🇷, Italy 🇮🇹, and Belgium 🇧🇪. 🇫🇷 In France, BNP Paribas has teamed up with Betterway, a French fintech pioneer in employee mobility payment cards, to develop with Arval BNP Paribas Group a similar service: the Arval Mobility Pass. It works like a traditional bank card 💳, but with a mission: to facilitate the use of the Sustainable Mobility Package. In concrete terms, one can pay for public transportation 🚌, green car-sharing 🚗, bike lease 🚲, scooters 🛵, and anything else that falls into the "sustainable mobility" category. And all there is to do is integrate it into your wallet, and it’s ready to go! 🇮🇹 In Italy, BNL BNP Paribas delivered in 2022 the BNL Car Sharing service powered by Arval BNP Paribas Group: it allows and encourages bank employees to use the corporate car fleet instead of one’s personal car 🚗 while on business trip. It’s widespread in all 157 major BNL’s business locations in Italy. The service is managed by app and is simple and fast; it helps avoid any risk of damage, accident, or theft of one’s personal car. It’s also sustainable as all the car fleet of BNL is composed only of vehicles with low CO2 emissions. 🇧🇪 In Belgium, BNP Paribas Fortis offers a “Cafeteria plan” to its employees: the package includes multiple benefits, such as access to green mobility offers including EV company car, bike lease, accessories, and public transportation 🚝. 📍And you, which green mobility solutions do you use? This week marks a significant milestone in the joint actions carried out by BNP Paribas and the Solar Impulse Foundation to support the ecological transition. Created in 2021 to drive the growth of young and innovative clean-teach solutions, the BNP Paribas Solar Impulse Venture Fund has successfully raised its minimum target size of €150 million. This fund has already invested in five promising startups, including: 👉NatureMetrics: A British startup developing solutions for measuring and monitoring biodiversity using environmental DNA samples. 👉 Phenix: A French startup fighting against food waste. 👉 Axioma Inc. : A French company providing bio-solutions to mitigate hydric stress in plants and accelerate the agricultural transition. 👉 Hello Watt : A French company offering a one-stop shop for energy renovation, making it simpler, more efficient, and accessible for homeowners. 👉 Chemix, Inc. : A US-based tech company using AI to develop breakthrough EV battery technologies. We are happy to welcome Isabelle Mateos y Lago within BNP Paribas as our new Chief Economist from 3 September 2024, replacing William De Vijlder, current BNP Paribas Chief Economist since 2014, who will be retiring in a few months’ time. Isabelle, previously Chief Markets Strategist at BlackRock, reports to Lars Machenil, the Group's Chief Financial Officer. William will take on the role of Economic Adviser to the Group's General Management, reporting to Lars Machenil. Isabelle Mateos y Lago brings a wealth of experience in economics, finance and geopolitics gained throughout her international career at leading financial institutions in France, the United States and the United Kingdom. Isabelle will continue to reinforce the BNP Paribas Economic Research Unit’s crucial role supporting the Group’s business lines and its clients, and develop new initiatives to ensure that BNP Paribas continues to benefit from cutting-edge economic research.
