Jarl Storvald is the giant lord leading the Frost Giants of the North from his base of power in Svardborg and his capital ship the Krigvind. According to his brother Harshnag he was a brutal and merciless hunter, embodying all of the traits that frost giants aspire to. He seeks the Ring of Winter and developed a plan to locate it's bearer, Artus Cimber. According to the Oracle of the Eye of the All-Father he intended to bring about an age of never-ending winter.

This is a selection of conceptwork that had been created over the course of 5 years for the needs of Parabellum Wargames (www.para-bellum.com), where I had been responsible for developing the look of their 'Nord' and 'Dweghom' lines of miniatures for the fantasy wargame 'Conquest'.

Frost giants, called isejotunen in their own language, were large giants that lived in caverns or castles in cold, mountainous environments. Almost always evil creatures, these giants stood 20' tall and weighed around 2800 lbs. They had white skin and either blue or dirty yellow hair. In combat, frost giants would hurl rocks and then close in with battleaxes. They were immune to cold, but particularly vulnerable to fire, and had low-light vision.
