Both are super important as flexibility without strength is pretty useless and can be dangerous. This is why you will always find a mix of active and passive in my classes ! Active Stretching: In active stretching, there is no external force being provided. You are actively moving one muscle group to stretch another. Passive Stretching: There is an external force being provided. You are being stretched instead of actively stretching. Beachbody Indoors - Women Fitness on Instagram: "I can stretch in yoga poses and not get the same effect as doing mobility and active stretching. I suppose everyone’s body is different. My joints like movement and muscles like engagement rather than passive stretches. Of course in the yoga pose we should engage muscles and have as active poses as we can but if gravity doing the work it’s not the same as active stretching.
