Julie Lonergan - Quilter on Instagram: "Here’s a very quick quilt project you can make this weekend. Make a 16-patch block, which includes chain piecing. I started off with (2) 2.5” strips sewn RST. Then I put two pairs together so I had four strips sewn together. I cut that strip set of four into 2.5” widths. I sewed (2) 2.5” strip sets RST with the orientation alternating. This created blocks of 8. Then I took (2) blocks of 8 and sewed them RST to create one block of 16 squares. All done by chain piecing where you sew your pieces together continuously without cutting the thread each time. I found this method to be much quicker than sewing 2.5” squares together individually, but you could totally do that if you wanted to.
