At the height of the Roman empire in second century AD, legionaries represented less than half of the entire army. Most of the army were auxiliary soldiers! They served as infantry, archers, cavalry, and slingers!

Military uniforms had an armor breastplate with shoulder-pieces. And depending what kind of soldier you were, it would determine how heavily armed you were (like shown in the picture). The footwear was calf-high boots or sandals with leather straps.
