Terracotta gets its name from the old Latin word “terra cocta” which was transferred to Italian as “terra cotta”. Its literal meaning is “baked earth” or “cooked earth” which explains what is terracotta tile. It has been used in many parts of the buildings since the dawn of humanity. Especially in Anatolia, terracotta was the number one construction material. It is basically produced by firing clay-containing substances that are readily available in nature under high temperatures. Jen Rothbury on Instagram: "Finally got round to putting together our new garden furniture so could get a reel together of the patio transformation.... to say I'm glad to see the back of those white tiles. It's not often I admit that I'm wrong but jeez the decision to have white tiles outdoors in Manchester was not the one. Jet wash one week, green mildew on them the next.
Anyway we had so many terracotta tiles left over from our bathroom renovation last year that we decided to put them to good use. They are designed for indoor use but considering they were just sat next to our shed for a year we decided we might as well put them to the test. You can get thicker versions for outdoor use so shop around!
Hopefully the reel is self explanatory but let me know if any questions!
