Solving rational equations is one of my favorite units in algebra 2. My high school students don't need a lot of help beyond these notes, because they've practiced factoring quite a bit. I use these pages in my interactive notebooks.

Precalculus will be moving beyond their introduction to functions and function notation from Algebra II and into a in-depth development of transformations. We will be applying transformations (translations, reflections, dilations, etc.) to many of the parent functions included in the image above (we will save trigonometry for the Spring!). This activity to practice graphing rational functions worked so well for my Algebra 2 students. After the notes, my students did this project. It was better and more effective than a worksheet. It would even work for Pre-Calculus students.
