Slide Templates & FAQ
Posting How-To!
Post in the Dedicated Bang Collection on AO3!
Tag as needed, please be responsible about it ;-)
Art should be inserted in the fic (with link & credit etc), but can also be posted in a separate AO3 work if the artist wishes. In that case, don’t forget to tick the “This work is a remix, a translation, a podfic, or was inspired by another work” box so both works are linked!
All art must have alt text and/or image description, depending on where you’re posting (on AO3 you have a box for Alt Text when posting an image, on Tumblr you can look this link up). Alt text is short, IDs are more detailed.
Thank your beta somewhere :-)
Posting on Tumblr: each team should have at least one post on Tumblr; if you can’t / don’t want to there will be a post on the blog.
We will happily reblog your works!
The final Tumblr post must include: the art (gore / pr0n blurred etc to avoid a Tumblr fit), and under it:
Title + AO3 Link (and link to extra art if also posted separately)
Writer
Artist
Main tags
Fic length
Summary
It can also include other art (but if there is a lot, under a cut is probably best ;-) and a SHORT extract.
Tag @frattweek! Then, #frattweek in the first five hashtags. Other tags as needed.
Inserting art on AO3: you can use the Rich Text option, click on Insert/edit Image, and fill in the boxes. Your pic should end in .jpg or another image format, not a link. If you’re posting from discord, remember that you need to click on “open original” under the pic to get the correct link and make sure you have the highest quality pic.
It’s HIGHLY recommended that you use a percentage in the “width” box rather than pixel size; this will ensure your pic always looks good on any screen (it will fill 80%, 40%, etc of the screen, whether a phone, tablet, computer, and whether you’re holding your screen in portrait or landscape mode) instead of making the reader slide left and right to see bits of the pic. 80% for art in landscape format and 40% for art in portrait format is a good starting point that you can adjust from.
To center your pic: click on “html” and not rich text, and insert <center> before <img src=“…> and </center> right after.
Here’s an example:
<center>
<img src=“LINK.png” alt=“DESCRIPTION.” width=“80%” />
</center>
Signing up form
Signing up means that you can submit art and/or fic, and that you will have access to claims. You don’t have to claim and you don’t have to submit, but you won’t be able to do any of these unless you sign up!
You can both submit and claim - just remember that the more you commit to, the more art / fic you will have to create ;-)
If you want to claim, but find that nothing tickles your fancy, no hard feelings. This time ;-)
IF YOU SIGN UP AS A FICCER+ARTIST TEAM, no slide needed because you won’t be part of claims. Just email or DM me your rough idea so i can harass you about it later ;-)
What counts as art?
Baby don’t art me, don’t art me, no more…
Art can be: traditional or digital art / manips / gifsets (6 gifs min) / knitting, needlework etc / pottery / vid (1minute min) / fanmixes (playlist of 6 songs min + playlist cover). Podfics work too - at least 1.5k words recorded if the fic is longer than that.
When submitting a slide, writers can say what types of art they’re not comfortable with. Please take that into account!
What are the art & fic minimum requirements?
Artists: one art, and if the art is visual (drawing, photographed work, etc) it can be also used as a banner.
All visual art must have a description for accessibility.
Writers: 1,500 words. It should of course be a work that has never been published before!
Works must be betaed. If you need a beta, you can check out this tool!
What should i submit for claims?
(Slide templates)
Artists: a slide with at least a sketch of your main piece, embroidery pattern, etc. Please also send along an image description that i can add as Alt Text on the slideshow! The art can be a finished or mostly finished work, of course! As long as it is new / has never been published online before.
Writers: a slide + a separate file (a GDoc link is ok) with your project, outline… and 500 words of your fic (from anywhere in the fic) minimum.
Both types of submissions will have to be clear on your nopes (no smut, no AUs, no fanvids, etc), the expected warnings (character death, internalized homophobia, etc) and tags (trans!Matt, college era, crack…).
The slide may have to be spoilery, but this is to ensure your claimant knows what they’re getting into ;-)
Both types of submissions must be PG13/Teen & up: blur / black out extreme gore, pr0n, etc. This is, of course, only for submissions; the final work can include gore/porn etc as long as it’s properly tagged.
Submission slides to be sent to titconao3 at gmail dot com, via DM on this tumblr, or via Discord if you are in touch with me there. If you do not get a reply from me in 48 hours, send it again!
I want to be part of the FrattWeek Mini-Bang, but I already have a team partner!
Cool! You have the option to do so. Both artist and writer will have to sign up and mention their other half in the form, so that yours truly can make sure both parties are onboard ;-)
Schedule
Signups will be open from March to April 10. Slides can be sent at any point during signups. (Slide templates)
Claims will be held right after signups close (after which you will not be able to send a slide!!!), and final teams should be ready right after that.
Posting should be over May/June depending on how many teams sign up.
Can I combine this bang with another event like a bingo or an event week?
Yes… as long as the rules and schedules coincide, and as long as it’s not another bang, an exchange, an auction, or a commission.
Do you have something else in mind? send an ask! This FAQ will be updated after the answer is published.
No monetized work will be accepted
What about posting?
You will be able to post in the dedicated AO3 collection.
The art should be embedded in the fic, but the artist is welcome to also put their work in a separate AO3 work that can be in the collection too. Please use the “inspired by” tool on AO3 so both works are linked.
A post should be made on Tumblr which will be reblogged on @frattweek; it should include the relevant link(s) to AO3, credit team members, give tags/warnings, length, etc (details given later). If no one on the team has a Tumblr this blog can make it for you.
Multichapter fics: yes, but must be entirely online by the end of the posting window.
There will also be a final recap post.
Shippy questions?
This event is Matt/Frank focused.
OT+ are allowed (Matt/Frank/Elektra, for example); be clear this is what you’re going for on your slide.
Therefore, Matt/Frank(/+) should be endgame, even if past relationships can be mentioned.
All the Matts and all the Franks are allowed (Murderdock, for instance), in any combination (multiverse, baby).
Nope, Mike can’t replace Matt.
