Describe the PR

This fixes the issue #2661 where options that contains a label field were incorrectly rendered as groups instead of regular options.

Small replication

A small replication or video walkthrough can help demonstrate the changes made. This is optional, but can help observe the intended changes. A mentioned issue that contains a replication also works.

The PR fulfills these requirements:

  • Pull request title and all commits follow the Conventional Commits convention or has an override in this pull request body This is very important, as the CHANGELOG is generated from these messages, and determines the next version type. Pull requests that do not follow conventional commits or do not have an override will be denied

Walkthrough

The update modifies the internal logic of the isComplex type guard function within the useFormSelect composable. Specifically, the function now determines if an object is a ComplexSelectOptionRaw by checking for the presence of an 'options' property, instead of a 'label' property. No changes were made to the public API or exported function signatures.

Changes

File(s) Change Summary
packages/bootstrap-vue-next/src/composables/useFormSelect.ts Updated the isComplex type guard to check for the 'options' property instead of 'label'.

Poem

In the garden of code, a change quite discreet,
Now options, not labels, make complex forms complete.
A bunny hops by, with a wink and a smile,
"Check for 'options'," it says, "and stay for a while!"
The logic is nimble, the update is neat—
With every small tweak, our code feels more sweet. 🐇

10-10: Great fix for the option groups identification logic!

This change correctly modifies the isComplex type guard to check for the presence of an 'options' property instead of a 'label' property. This addresses issue #2661 where options with only a label field were incorrectly treated as option groups.

The fix aligns the type guard with the structure created in the normalizeOption function, which sets both label and options properties for complex options (lines 33-38). This ensures that only options with sub-options are treated as option groups, while options that simply have a label will be treated as regular selectable options.

Pull Request Overview

This PR fixes a bug where options containing a label field were mistakenly rendered as groups. The key change is updating the condition in the isComplex function to check for the presence of an "options" property rather than a "label" property, ensuring that only proper group options are detected.

  • Updated group detection in useFormSelect to prevent misinterpretation of options with a label.
  • Ensured that the normalization process correctly distinguishes between single options and groups.

packages/bootstrap-vue-next/src/composables/useFormSelect.ts:10

  • Consider adding unit tests to verify that options with a 'label' field but without an 'options' field are correctly handled as non-group options.
typeof option === 'object' && option !== null && 'options' in option
