I spent way too long looking at RedoHasher but this is the place.
Calling
DoCacheProbe
from a separate binary breaks the assumption that envbuilder is running as root, which means we suddenly have to care about ownership of certain files.My regrettable workaround for this right now is to selectively lie about it.
