The very first sentence says "Devices are represented in Home Assistant as entities". The way Home Assistant is structured is that there is a 'Device' which represents the whole physical object, and then each function within that device (button, sensor etc.) is represented by an Entity. They are not the same thing and having this sentence in the introduction is very confusing.
