Feedback

I've been trying to get the Feedreader integration to work, and have experienced numerous issues. The first step in troubleshooting should be to check the documentation, but the documentation provided is nothing more than a video which appears to be an infomercial for selling us his blueprint to configure it.

Additional information

I don't believe that Home Assistant documentation should be behind a paywall. The information provided should be complete, and allow for total configuration without the need to purchase a solution from a third party.

Hey there @mib1185, mind taking a look at this feedback as it has been labeled with an integration (feedreader) you are listed as a code owner for? Thanks!

I somewhat agree with you there, the documentation is a little lacking to be fair.

here's a quick and dirty example I slapped together - https://gist.github.com/MichaelMKKelly/86731c02de82ad1891ca515548e7baa7

hopefully it helps you in the short term and maybe ill clean it up and try and contribute it to the documentation

I'm trying to improve the docs in #38608, appreciate any hints on missing information to configure or troubleshoot the feedreader integration.

I would include a note that it can take a long time to update. Troubleshooting can be frustrating because it may take hours for a new feed to show.

In my case, I am only asking it to download one item so I have the "latest" headline... But neither of my feeds accurately reflect the feeds available on the web site. Because they don't match, that will have you believe it's not working.

I would include a note that it can take a long time to update.

The very first sentence in the docs was already before: "Add an RSS/Atom feed reader that polls feeds every hour"
But the updated docs now also contains a direct link to the common task of defining a custom polling interval.
