Following ipython/ipython#5593 the pylab parameter is no longer supported in IPython.

There are a couple of locations where this is mentioned - I've just found the one on the front of matplotlib.org, as well as the one at the top of matplotlib/__init__.py - at least both of these two should be removed before releasing v1.4.
