This is fine, but the lines are too long now, as you can see from the flake8 failure.

I'd be ok excluding the line limitation for _animation_data.py. To do so add

    lib/matplotlib/_animation_data.py: E501

to the file .flake8.

Thank you QuLogic and timhoffm for bearing with me on this, something I definitely overlooked, sorry about that. Just updated the flake8 file as tim suggested.
