PR Summary

With this, there is no need to explicitly start xvfb (program to "get a display" when running without a display, such as on the CI). When running tests locally and xvfb is installed, no windows will pop up.

For options to actually pop up the windows and more info, see https://github.com/The-Compiler/pytest-xvfb/

Helps with #23096 (if on Linux and xvfb installed...).

PR Checklist

Tests and Styling

  • Has pytest style unit tests (and pytest passes).

  • New features are documented, with examples if plot related.
  • New features have an entry in doc/users/next_whats_new/ (follow instructions in README.rst there).
  • API changes documented in doc/api/next_api_changes/ (follow instructions in README.rst there).
  • Documentation is sphinx and numpydoc compliant (the docs should build without error).
