Support for pure Wayland was only added 3 weeks ago in wxWidgets/Phoenix#2638 and is not in a release.

PR summary
wxPython does not support pure Wayland systems (though wxGTK would be fine with it). This was only fixed in wxWidgets/Phoenix#2638 which is not in a release yet.
The cross-Qt tests also need a display since they are initializing their respective toolkits, and should be skipped without Wayland or X.
