2.1.0rc1 is starting to feel a bit closer to real...

Do you want this gone over with a fine-tooth comb? I gave it a fairly quick scan and would be inclined to merge it soon.

They are going to need extensive work, but getting them merge as is is probably better than letting them sit un-merged.
