Resolving Outlook Error Messages
One or more items in the folder you synchronized do not match. To resolve the conflicts, open the items, and then try this operation again.
This error occurs when the local Outlook .ost
off-line cache file is out of sync with the externally managed Exchange Server content. There are several potential ways of resolving this.
Yes, this really has been reported by a user as a fix! 🙄
- In Outlook, right-click on the calendar folder you are syncing with OGCS and select
Properties
- On the
General
tab, clickClear Offline Items
. - Perform a
Send and Receive
to resync your calendar, before syncing with OGCS again.
- Open the folder list view in Outlook by clicking on Folders on the navigation section located in the lower left portion of the Outlook main window.
- Select the specific mailbox that is having this issue, highlight one of the folders (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, or Notes) where you suspect the problem exists, and change its view to list. To do this click on View and elect List.
- Sort the records by icon. To do this, click the folded page icon in the title bar above the category heading.
- Scroll down until you find one or more items with a crossed swords icon.
- Double-click on the item with crossed-swords icon and from the "Conflict Resolution" window select to keep the item with the most recent date.
- Once all conflicts are "resolved" the issue should be resolved.
Locate your Outlook .ost
file for the Outlook mail profile that is experiencing this issue and rename or delete this file. You must close Outlook before doing this to avoid the file being locked by Outlook. When you restart Outlook perform a send/receive and Outlook will start to reconstruct the Outlook off-line .ost
file.
Another way of deleting the .ost
file is to either remove the mail account or remove the entire mail profile. Once done, add the account/profile back and the issue should be resolved.
The number of items that can be opened at one time has been limited by the server administrator. First, close any open messages, or remove attachments and pictures from unsent messages you are composing.
This may affect those syncing with Outlook Exchange accounts, which have not been configured for a cached connection. The first thing to try is enabling a cached connection.
Other workarounds within OGCS configuration may be:
- Reducing the date range you are syncing
- Removing any Outlook category in/exclusion criteria
