i think it would be funny if a theater nerd committed a certain historic act, just to see a certain musical break into mainstream middle america and hear all the baffled takes about it. but ultimately i know it would wind up biting us in the ass. but for a beautiful moment, it would be hilarious.
an argument could be made that the righteous gemstones is one of the most feminist comedies of all time because unlike, say, always sunny or seinfeld, where dee and elaine started off as more sensible than the male leads, or arrested development or succession, where lindsay and shiv are usually a bit more even-keeled compared to most of the characters, judy gemstone is absolutely batshit insane, just a sex-crazed freak with no filter, with shiv’s delusional arrogance injected with roman’s degeneracy, human equivalent of cujo the dog, a true icon
