You've all watched as my stairs transformed before your very eyes and we ripped that old carpet off and added new pine stair treads and new risers as well. I knew that I could make the stairs look pretty and had every intention of adding a runner, just like I did in my old house. I loved how that one turned out so much and wanted to repeat the pretty again.

We have a mish mash of old boards, vast ply boards and levelling screed to help level and straightened our previously wonky floor. To hide all of this we ran our sisal carpet full width adding interest along the spindle edge where we had the same taping applied for continuity. I hope that’s helpful if you’re wondering how to treat the flooring between two staircase. Here’s a DIY my husband and I tackled and let me tell you it was probably one of the more easy ones we have done! We are not professionals but are happy with how it turned out! Here’s what we did:

We removed the pink carpet and removed the millions of staples as well! Very time consuming! 😫

After that we painted the steps! We took it one step further (no pun intended) and added a wood trim detail. We used a staple gun to adhere it then… more painting!

Once all the painting was done we marked with tape where the center of our runner would be. We added a rug cushion for extra comfort! The carpet we used was a 2x5. We needed about 6 rugs to complete the area.

We cut the tops and bottoms off of the rugs because we wanted the design to l Diy Stair Runner, No Pun Intended, Diy Stairs, Tops And Bottoms, Pink Carpet, Diy Carpet, Stair Runner, Wood Trim, Trim Detail
