Chrissy Horton on Instagram: "I have given birth 5 times (about to be 6) and apparently I have been doing it all wrong 😂

I always thought since I had an epidural the only position I could labor and birth in were on my back. But Dr Ivy at @empower.physicaltherapy showed me otherwise!

She also taught me how to breath properly while pushing! Hopefully I remember all of it when it’s go time 😂

A lot of this depends on the dosage of the epidural (Dr Ivy suggests getting a low dosage one so you can still feel the urge to push), and what the hospital permits once the epidural is administered. For me I have a catheter so getting off the bed isn’t an option.

I am sure everything varies between each practices so of course talk to your medical team. These videos are merely meant to show other o Giving Birth Videos Pushing, Labor Positions, Birth Videos, 37 Weeks Pregnant, Hospital Birth, Birth Labor, Pregnancy Birth, The Hospital, Medical Advice

It took me 2.5 hours to push his 9.8oz baby body across my finish line with a nurse pressing down on top of my belly! . ☝🏼Y’all still being told this exact same thing these days! . 🤍I was ignorant back then! Not any more! I am sharing my knowledge with you so you can be in the KNOW about natural birth! . 💥DO NOT start pushing unless your uterus is spontaneously pushing!! Your body is ready to birth your baby and your baby is ready to be born when spontaneous pushing begins. It is an amazing phenomenon! . 💪🏻When your uterus is ready to evict the baby, you will experience the fetal ejection reflex (FER)! It was amazing to see this Harbor Seal give birth to her newborn pup! I’m so happy I decided to grab my rain gear and head to La Jolla on this cold, rainy morning. When I arrived at the designated Harbor Seal viewing area, I noticed a pregnant seal was in labor and already pushing! Rushing to put my camera on my tripod, I didn’t have time to tighten everything or make any adjustments before I saw the pup (in its amniotic sac) coming out! What an exciting moment!

At the end of this video you can see mom and pup touching noses. This is a very important step in the bonding process. Moms and pups identify each other by smell, recognizing scent from glands in the skin near their noses (and flippe Birth Videos, Harbor Seal, Seal Pup, Rainy Morning, Give Birth, Sensitive Content, Rain Gear, La Jolla, Otters
