On December 24, 1968, NASA’s Astronaut Bill Anders captured this historic first image of Earth from the Lunar orbit during the Apollo 8 mission. Anders saw the Earth rising above the Lunar horizon and decided to take the colour shot of the scene using his Hasselblad handheld camera and a 250 mm lens.  NASA scientists describe this photo as the first view of Earthrise above the lunar horizon. If you look closely, you will see the lunar surface captured in the photo as well.
