SUPPLIES:  - New planter - Deep tray or pot for a water reservoir - Diamond tip ceramic drill bit - Painter’s tape - Cotton Rope - Plant Food  STEP 1: DRILL THE HOLES  Self-watering planters need 3 holes—one for drainage, and two to feed the rope through.  For a more detailed tutorial on drilling the holes comment DRILL below.  STEP 2: SOAK THE ROPE  If you don’t do this before you plant, your self-watering planter may not work properly.  STEP 3: UNPOT THE TREE  I use chopsticks to break up the rootball and loosen the soil.  STEP 4: PREP THE PLANTER  Feed the rope through the two holes on the outer edges. You want a good amount of rope inside so it reaches the rootball.
