Rhythm in art is important because it can make a piece more interesting to look at. It might be the lines, or colors that create this rhythm. A lot of times we see patterns and rhythms in nature - like waves crashing on the beach, trees swaying in the breeze, and shadows created by sunlight passing through leaves. Visual rhythm: the picture represents visual rhythm because of the movement of the eye.

Alternating Rhythm is rhythm that consists of successive patterns in which the same elements reappear in a regular order. The motifs alternate consistently with one another to produce a regular (and anticipated) sequence. This gives a pattern of rhythms seem endless, but retains predictability. Here the fish alternate.
