This weekend at Vintage Computer Festival East @ms-dos5 and I will be celebrating the 30th birthday of Windows 95 with the biggest, most elaborate exhibit either of us have ever done.

18 feet of table space featuring 9 computers running various versions of Windows 95 on a mix of laptops and desktops, with awhat slew of productivity software, games, and goodies to explore.

VCF East is April 4th-6th, at the InfoAge Science Center in Wall, NJ. Exhibits will be open on Saturday and Sunday.

We hope to see you there!

Soon.

It is now safe to turn off your computer.

Thank you one and all who came to see our exhibit over the weekend. @ms-dos5 were amazed at the positive response.

Post-event recap:

A handful of folks from here on tumblr stopped by to say hello, which was great! Glad you could see and use the Logitech Kidz Mouse.

We only had one machine fail on us: the Compaq LTE Elite 4/75CX. It wasn’t booting consistently, and would fail in one of 5 different places. We gave up on it entirely, and just left it off for the rest of the show.

We had a few Blue Screens of Death: 2 on the AST Bravo (2 one was expected, the other one intentionally done by a visitor), and 1 on Vega due to a floppy having been removed unexpectedly. We had half a dozen OS freeze-ups that required a hard reboot. We had 5 paper jams on the dot matrix printer.

Another exhibitor used Vega (our most powerful machine) to image a floppy disk of rare Atari software. We also printed out a flier for the adjacent exhibit. Games were played, discussions were had, people overall seemed to enjoy what we brought to the table.

Event photos will be curated and queued up soon (as well as posted in a gallery on my website), the tags below will be specific to this year’s event photos.
