The Weird World of Pokémon TTRPGS
In another installment of “Henry makes a video about whatever random thing he wants,” this video combines my love for Pokémon and Tabletop RPGs to explore which system translates what I consider most important to the themes and mechanics of Pokémon.
This video also is a little bit of a love letter to fan made TTRPGs and to every hobbyists that has created stuff for this space.

This video was produced for the essay library’s 2025 Essay Jam, where essayists were tasked with writing, producing a full video essay in the span of 48 hours. The theme for the jam was Journey, which caused me to think about animator Gints Zilbalodis and the ways his eight films embody the struggles and joys found in the artistic Journey.
