Hey it’s been… a minute lol
Anyway, here’s Lizzie, Z-6 and Skyli, three new OCs I whipped up all in the first month of 2023!
Lizzie is an alien cat who has a taste for the urban street style and lives in a slightly rundown apartment. She crashlanded onto Earth when she was 8 and has been living in an urban town since.
Z-6 is a test subject trapped in an abandoned science facility patrolled by robots that had gone rogue long ago and has to find a way to not die and eventually fight back against the robots to escape, all while avoiding the wrath of the facility’s master computer O.T.T.O., who aims to use her for its own malicious purposes…
And then there’s Skyli. They’re an lab-grown cerberus who are a beeg girl and is a bit of a dummy. All three heads have minds of their own and their own personalities, so most people name the left and right heads “Skyla” and “Skylo” respectively to avoid confusion. The heads also seem to have their minds linked together, hence why they mostly act like the middle one.
Mimi and The Butterfly
「ココちゃん!この生き物はとても小さいです!そして、ハート型のゆるいものを持っています!」 (Translation: “Koko! This creature is so small! And it has heart-shaped flappy things!”)
(Screenshot and quote from “Big and Small”, the cartoon’s second episode.)
The picture on the left is a screencap of a presumably lost VHS release of an obscure Japanese “children’s” cartoon from 1979 called “Mimi to mori no dōbutsu-tachi” (“Mimi and the Forest Animals”) that stars the titular Mimi, a mysterious critter who learns about the various wildlife of the meadows, how the wilderness works and how they live their lives.
The show had only five episodes made (“Hello, Mimi!”, “Big and Small”, “Mates”, “________” and “___ ___, Mimi…”), but only the first two episodes aired on a local tv station in Hokkaido, likely due to the final three episodes containing some… disturbing content.
However, there do exist around 20 VHS tapes that contained all five episodes, but no one knows where they are…
UPDATE: A less fuzzy screencap of the episode has resurfaced! It has been placed right above the original screenshot.
All of us at the Animation Sleuths Association have been hard at work in restoring more screencaps of this show. Currently, we’ve been searching for a screencap of episode 1 and a screencap of a scene in episode 3 where Mimi learns about ______ ______ and is [REDACTED].
As for the mystery of the tapes, it looks like one of the tapes containing all five episodes has been spotted at a thrift store somewhere in Detroit…
Twitter’s on fire, so I’ve been mirgating to here, Newgrounds and even Mastodon because why the fuck not?
Anyway, gonna probably post more on here and NG lol
