Questions about example sentences with, and the definition and usage of "Aware"

A: here it just means "well-informed"

I use it in a situation where I'm not an expert on the topic, because it's possible that there is something but I just don't know about it.

Example:
A: Are there any wild cats in Taiwan?
B: Not that I'm aware of (but I'm not an expert on wild cats, so you shouldn't just accept my answer)

The difference is – the first one is incorrect, and the second one isn’t.

Aren’t you aware of that?
Don’t you know that?

Now, they are both correct and identical in meaning.

I see – it probably is more polite, but that might have something to do with it having a very different meaning to – I know.

I know – I already knew that
