Asylum Town Discord Server Information:

To everyone viewing this, I have made a discord server called Asylum Town. Originally it was intended to be a space for Canadians to assist Americans who are looking into asylum or immigration as a form of safety amidst Trump’s dictatorship. However, the server now serves many other purposes, including but not limited to:

1. Survival resources (self sustainability guides, guides for surviving late stage capitalism, dealing with internet safety, medical guides for various emergencies, medicinal herbs and plants, gardening and animal care, how to speak with cops and law enforcement, protecting your community from ICE, etc)
2. Immigration and Asylum resources. Though most of what is in the server now is geared towards moving to Canada, there have been requests for information on immigrating to places like Ireland and Norway, and so there is space in the server for info on other countries as well.
3. Guides and information on resistance and protests. This includes info like upcoming boycotts and protests, safety guides to protesting, how to use technology in a protest in order to remain safe, how to deal with law enforcement at a peaceful protest when the power gets to their heads, etc.
4. Information on other discord servers that have similarly aligned missions and goals.

I do need to say that because this server is intended as a safe space for those affected by Trump or similar world figures with similar world views, there will be no tolerance for racism, sexism, queerphobia, ableism, anti-immigrant rhetoric, and so forth. Any amount of bigotry or right wing dog whistles will be shut down immediately.

The server is open to all who need assistance while the world is on fire, and while it was originally intended for a very specific goal, I think it’s pretty clear that the whole world is in disarray, and we all need community and resources in order to survive and fight back.

It should be noted that because Canada has recently made it clear they are tightening the borders, it is now harder than ever to seek asylum or immigrate. As such, we are focusing our efforts more on surviving rather than refuge, but we are still supplying info on how to build a strong case to get into Canada despite the latest restrictions. However, I do encourage y’all to consider other countries as alternatives. Ireland is one that I’ve been hearing more and more, and I am currently doing research for members of the server, so it may be a good place to set your sights on if you intend to leave America.

The main goal of the server is community, and above that the goal is to provide for one another and create a network of safety and assistance so that if anyone struggles at any point, there is someone in the server to help out.

Calling All Americans and Canadians!!

hey y'all, i know the title of this post sounds dramatic but i promise it's cool!

canada is bracing for an influx of americans seeking asylum, and i thought this would be the perfect moment for some helpful solidarity. i'm making a discord server for canadians and americans, that way anyone who is trying to immigrate or seek asylum amidst what's going on in america can ask me and other canadians for whatever help you might need.

the goal is to have channels for whatever might be needed, from housing and healthcare information to friends that will make the move less difficult. the goal is to give you as much of a support circle as possible, because moving is a pretty drastic change.

now, i will need some help.

firstly, americans, i need to know what kinds of channels you're looking for in this discord. what would be most helpful for you?

secondly, canadians, i need to know what kinds of channels you think would be helpful to post general information on what to expect upon moving to canada. especially if you're an immigrant in this country like i am, this could be very helpful.

thirdly, i need y'alls help to spread the word. i have a tiny corner of the internet, but if this channel is going to help people escape crisis, we're gonna need all hands on deck. even if you're not planning on joining the discord, please consider reblogging so people can get out safely.
