Master Post

Here is a list of my original pieces & stuff I’ve done from prompts. Most of my stuff doesn’t have a title because I can never think of one. If you have any requests, please drop them in my asks, send a message, whatever!

I’m still getting to know what kinds of stories I enjoy writing, but I’ve been obsessed with hero x villain tropes & whump.

Also want to note this is my side-blog so I haven’t been able to reply to comments on my posts but I do see them and greatly appreciate :)

If you want to be tagged in anything, just let me know ^^

Screenshot of a tweet that reads: Yknow what I’d like to see as an illustrator? A database of cultural clothes/items submitted by people within those cultures with info like how often its used and reference photos It would make diversity in art so much easier Is there something like that??ALT

tweet

Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.

May I present to you, nationalclothing.org?

It doesn't have everything, but it's still my first source when researching traditional clothing from other cultures.

There's also this resource on historical fashion: Claire’s Historical Fashion Reference & Resources

another addition as far as physical media goes there is the encyclopedia of national dress (that i still need to buy myself bc this kind of thing is super important to my sort of fantasy designing) but yes i do agree i wish there was EVEN MORE documentation on this

fanfic writers are so fucking awesome man. they write novel length fics that are sometimes even better than some published bestselling books written by professional writers. like fanfic writers are professional writers to me and they gift us their masterpieces for free. they give us something we can look forward to after a long day. something from which we can seek comfort when life is hard. something that can be our own little getaway. in a world of capitalism, despite everything, they give us all of these for free. like holy fuck. shout out to every fanfic writer. I wish all fanfic writers a very ‘I love you with all my heart and soul. I thank you from the bottom of my heart’

Just a quick note from your friendly neighborhood bookworm/indie author

if you use kindle for the majority of your library, they will be shutting down the function that allows you to download your files and transfer them via USB on the 26th of February. Which doesn't sound like a huge deal, but this also means that if a book is taken off Amazon for any reason—like it being banned—they can scrape it off your kindle as well. So maybe backup your library?

How to Download Your Kindle Books (with screenshots)

  • From your Amazon homepage, click "Account & Lists" then click "Content Library"
image
  • Click "Books"
image
  • Find the book you want to download and click "More actions"
image
  • Click "Download & transfer via USB"
image
  • Click the button next to your device, then click "Download"
image
  • That's it! Your book file is now downloaded to your device. To my knowledge there isn't a way to bulk download everything, which means that your have to download books individually. (If anyone knows how to download multiple books at a time, please let me know!)
  • I use the free software Calibre to organize my ebook files. This video gives a good basic overview of how to download your ebooks from Amazon to Calibre, and also goes over how to use Calibre to transfer your ebooks to Kobo. I recently got a Kobo and have slowly been transferring my ebooks to it, and it is actually pretty easy!
  • If you're looking for ways to get ebooks without supporting Amazon, check out Smashwords, Bookshop.org, or see if your favorite author/publisher sells ebooks directly from their website.
  • Go forth and read!

Unstable

Warnings: shock, electrocution, power instability

"Oh shit! I'm sorry!" Sidekick said as they watched Villain's body convulse on the floor. "I didn't mean to. I'm sorry!"

Villain's body was on fire. Every single muscle fiber burned in their body. They wanted reassure Sidekick that it was fine. That this much electricity wouldn't kill them. That they've been shocked way worse before. But they couldn't get the air to speak.

"I don't know how to stop! How do I stop?" Sidekick shrill cry had Villain rolling their eyes to stare up at Sidekick.

Sidekick's powers were still unstable. Sidekick had been working closely with Villain to get better control over their powers. But this was the worst loss of control Villain had seen yet.

Villain didn't have the air to say that Sidekick needed to calm down. Didn't have the air to say that Sidekick needed to take a deep breath. Didn't have the air to say anything. They could only hope they would pass out soon and then Sidekick would stop.

“Happy Valentines Day to me,” Hero muttered under their breath as they took in the sight before them. It was February 14th, and like every February 14th, Hero’s desk was completely cluttered with flowers, chocolates and wax sealed letters from secret admirers. The agency, for whatever reason, allowed civilians to turn in Valentines gifts for a hero of their choice, and while all of the supers tended to get at least a couple, Hero always seemed to be the centre of attention.

One of the most crucial talents a Hero needed to have in this line of work was likeability. If the public feared and hated you — or at least, thought you were just a tad obnoxious — then you’d have a much harder time rescuing civilians. Each hero had their own gimmick, some were goofing pranksters, some were innocent and sweet, some were fun, adventurous and rebellious.

And Hero, they were the heartthrob. They knew they were conventionally attractive, blessed with what their superiors called a winning smile and a charismatic voice. It worked in their favour, well, until it meant half the work day spent trying to find paperwork buried amongst the gifts from adoring fans. The first Valentines wasn’t so bad, and Hero thought it was heartwarming that so many people desired them. But the excitement wears off after so long on the job, especially when the realisation that none of these gifters would ever even really know Hero had set in.

The villain couldn’t help but stare at the hero.

They’d gotten thinner, the villain realized.

“Listen...” The villain brushed the hero’s chin with their fingers until they took it altogether. Slowly, they leaned forward, but the weary eyes didn't meet them. “Just let me help. Just let me say the words, let me do the evil monologue and join me.”

The hero brushed the villain’s wrist with their fingers.

“You’re fully aware that I cannot do that.”

“Come on.” The hero shot them a sharp look and for a second, the villain considered retreating. With a groan, the hero leaned against the wall. Ultimately, they sat down, clearly too tired to stand up. “This is eating you. This stupid job, this stupid costume. When was the last week all your bones were intact?”

“It’s not that simple,” the hero argued. They frowned and even that looked like it was draining. The villain tried to, but they didn't understand. They feared they would never be able to fully grasp what the hero was aiming for, nor why they were so adamant.

“It is that simple. Your obsession with justice is ludicrous," the villain said. "You know the law doesn't function as a guide for moral decisions."

"I can't just watch and let people die, can I?" the hero answered. Their fingertips against the villain's wrist were cold and very slowly, it dawned on the villain that they were shaking.

At first, the villain didn't say anything. They simply kneeled to be on the same eye level as their counterpart. Then, they took the hero's face into their hands.

"You also can't blame yourself every time someone dies." The villain leaned in, nearly instinctively, and lowered their voice. "Please, just come back to me."

Their lips brushed the hero's cheek and they closed their eyes, taking their time to concentrate on the proximity and calm down their racing heart. They didn't want to think about the past, they didn't want to think about the endless fights and the many tears. It was all gone now - right now, in this moment, resentment didn't linger.

All that remained was affection.

"Please," the villain begged again. By now, they were hugging their hero, holding them closer than ever before, taking in deep breaths and burying their face in the hero's shoulder. They could feel the hero's hand move; snaking up their back and eventually finding a place in the villain's hair.

It was unbelievably painful to hold the hero like this. It was unbelievably cruel as well. All the things they had thrown at each other before, all the insults and the schemes, all those plans and conflicts...still being able to hold so much love for a person felt specifically dreadful to the villain.

But then again, the hero wasn't simply a person. Once, they had been everything.

"Please come back to me," the villain begged again. "This is killing you. This job, it..."

They felt the tears.

God, they felt the tears. After months of pushing their feelings away and replacing them with rage. After months of suppressing their emotions, they could feel how heavy their heart truly was.

They pulled away, blinking tears out of their eyes, and stared at the hero who had already let their tears roll down their face. The villain brushed them away.

"It is so exhausting," the hero whispered. Their voice was shaking.

"I know."

"And it hurts so much."

"I know, darling."

"But I can't quit, I can't- I mean, there is so much pressure and so many people are counting on me and if I fall, I mean...I'm not a person anymore, I'm a symbol of hope and inspiration and if I...I can't, I just can't-" The hero took in a trembling breath and the villain hugged them again, softer this time.

"Take a break, please. I can't stand this anymore." The villain pressed a kiss to the hero's cheek and slowly, let their fingers intertwine. "I can kidnap you if that makes it easier."

"Yes," the hero said. "For a few days, okay? Just a few days."

Given the hero's physical state, a few days turned into two weeks.
