We analyzed the full-text publication rate of abstracts presented at the 33° Argentinean Pediatric Congress (APC), time to achieve publication, and factors associated with publication or non-publication. Methods: Survey-based cross-sectional study, including authors of abstracts presented at the 33° APC. The survey included age, gender, specialty and sub-specialty, professional area and reason of publication or non-publication. Results: We randomly selected 140/894 presented abstracts. Only 16 abstracts (11.4%) were subsequently published in full, requiring 27±15 months. There were no association between full-text publication and author's characteristics. "Oral presentations" were more likely to be subsequently published (p= 0.018). In non published abstracts, 95% were not submitted by the author, more frequently because of "lack of time" (35.9%). Conclusion: Only 11.4% of abstracts were subsequently published in full. Oral presentation was associated with a higher publication rate. Most frequent cause for non-publication was non submission due to lack of time.

There is little evidence that these skills can be learned through online teaching environments. This paper describes the experience of having taught soft skills to health informatics master's degree students, through blended learning environments.

Methods: Data Source included a health information system (HIS) from an academic tertiary health care center integrating administrative and clinical applications. It used a local interface terminology server which provides support through data autocoding of clinical documentation. Specific data subsets were created to compare the burden of influenza during the epidemiological week (EW) 21 to 26 for years 2007 to 2009 among 150,000 Health Maintenance Organization members in Argentina. The threshold for identifying an epidemic was considered met when the weekly influenza-like illness (ILI) rate exceeded 200 per 100,000 visits. Case fatality rates and mortality rates of severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) from 2007 to 2009 were retrospectively compared. Case fatality rates and mortality rates for A/H1N1 influenza 2...

Results In all 27 883 individuals were studied. The mean age of respondents was 32.7 (SD¼11.8) years. In all 20.7% of the respondents were satisfied or very satisfied with healthcare delivery while 36.2% of people indicated little or no satisfaction with healthcare. The results obtained from regression analysis indicated that income (a proxy measure of access to healthcare) and information was the most significant contributing factor to people's dissatisfaction [OR for lower income¼2.17, p<0.0001; OR for people with poor health information ¼ 2.01, p<0.001]. Conclusion The study findings suggest that improving access to information and healthcare could lead to people's satisfaction with healthcare.

In this study, the primary aim was to identify the main barrier associated with implementing eHealth. This study surveyed IMIA members from May to November 2015. From the results, it is clear that medical professionals were recording most of their data by hand. This paper culture is a paradigm that is difficult to break. Cultural factors are the primary barrier in eHealth implementation.

To identify scientific evidence on the use and results of information and communication technologies for the improvement of neonatal health in general or specific health problems or interventions, and to describe the type of intervention and its results. Methods. A systematic review of the available evidence was performed. The search was carried out in peer-reviewed journals between January 1, 2008 and April 30, 2018, in English and Spanish. The searched key terms were (health informatics OR telemedicine OR mHealth) AND (newborn OR newborn care OR neonatal care). Results. From a total of 305 articles initially identified, 10 articles fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The main domains of eHealth identified as applied to neonatal health were telemedicine (3 studies), eLearning (1 study) and mHealth (7 studies). Target population were health care providers or parents. The studies aimed at diagnosis, provision of health care and training, promoting adherence to interventions...

Related to this, the objective of this study is to identify the challenges and hurdles to improve eHealth in developing countries. We surveyed experts to discover their opinions about five general questions: economic support by Government for eHealth, Government education or training projects in the field, issues related to cultural or educational problems for the implementation of eHealth, policies in terminology or messaging standards and eHealth status policies for long periods. The respondents answered affirmatively in these proportions: 1. Economic support policies 58%, 2. Training policies 25%, 3. Cultural and educational problems 95%, 4. Standards policies, 38%, 5. Policies for long periods, 50% Conclusion: Our survey has shown that the important problems that need to be addressed in order to implement e-Health in developing countries are firstly, cultural and educational, secondly, economic resources and thirdly policies for long periods.

In Argentina, a National Nutrition Survey in 2004 estimated that 10.4% of children aged 0.5-6 years were obese. Obesity prevention and management is one of the major challenges in pediatric care. Nutritional assessment is essential for monitoring growth and helps in the prevention of obesity. Purpose: Describe the anthropometric status of the pediatric population based on data registered in our web-based outpatient Electronic Health Record (EHR), and its value for correct identification of nutritional status. Methods: Setting: Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires is a non-profit health care academic center. The Department of Pediatrics has more than 600.000 outpatient annual visits. The EHR is implemented in full at the pediatric outpatient setting. We analyzed retrospectively length/height and weight registered by general pediatricians in the first visit in 2007 from 23046 EHR registries of children and adolescent...
