Hello! I’ve never really used this ask thing before— so I’m sorry if I do this wrong. I love your prompts and other works and was wondering if you could help me figure out how to write and describe accents? My characters have very specific accents (Australian accents, British accents, etc.) and I’m having trouble figuring out how to show that. This is a fantasy setting so I couldn’t just describe their accents as an Australian accent and such y’know? I’m so sorry if this doesn’t make sense. Would you be able to help?
The second annual Comment Bingo has arrived! **Comment Bingo** is an interactive event to lift our server’s rare pair creators. Authors & Artists can submit up to two (2) of their works that feature a rare HP ship. Then, readers will be given a bingo card as a guide to leave comments.

* Authors/Artists/Podficers are permitted to submit up to two (2) works to the collection
* All creators who submit a work to the collection must participate. (We support each other)
* Do not submit a work you submitted last year.
* Word count: 20,000 max.
* Open to all rare ships or gen works.
* All content is welcome, but you must tag your work appropriately.
* One (1) work can only mark off one (1) square.
* No AI-generated works allowed.
* All works must be submitted through AO3.
* No critical comments are allowed. All comments must be positive and uplifting.

Q: Am I only able to submit new or recent works?
A: Nope! Whether you wrote it an hour or 20 years ago, it can be submitted. Just please double-check your tagging.

A: Yes! It just HAS to be tagged properly.

Q: Are submissions vetted?
A: We will be doing some skims through but it will mostly be an honor thing. Just know, the mods will be participating. If you’re in doubt, ask a mod. (Mandi loves tagging)

Q: Podfics allowed?
A: Yes, podfics are allowed! They just have to follow the existing guidelines to submit & properly credit the original work (if there is one).

Q: My main pairing is a rare pair, but I have a side/past pairing that is a common pair. Is that allowed?
A: Yes. As long as the primary focus is on the rare pair!

Q: Are WIPs allowed? Can they be updated during the duration of the bingo?
A: Yes! WIPS are allowed and encouraged! They can be updated throughout the bingo. We just ask that they stay under the 20,000 words through April 30, 2025.

Q: Is there a minimum word count?
A: No minimum- only a maximum of 20,000.

Q: Is there a maximum number of comments the fic can have at the start?
A: No, although, this is a great opportunity to submit your rare pair works that haven’t received as much love.

Q: If I’ve already read a work and left a comment, could I reread it, leave a new comment, and use it for one of my squares?
A: Yes, however, we encourage you to first try to read fics/pairings you’ve never read before.

Q: Can you clarify the ‘one work can only fill one square’ rule?
A: Absolutely! For example: If a work I leave a comment on could fulfill multiple categories. (T rating, golden trio era & pull a quote that made me blush), I can only use that work to mark off one square (golden trio era).

Q: How late do we have to submit?
A: The collection closes for submissions on April 15th.

Q: Do I have to submit to participate in the bingo?
A: Everyone is welcome to participate in the bingo, regardless if you submit or not. However, if you submit, you are required to participate. We all support each other.

Q: How do I submit?
A: If you edit your selected work on AO3, there is an option to “Add to Collection.” You can copy and paste the collection name (HPRP_Comment_Bingo_2025) into that space and submit the work. If you have any issues or problems, please ping Mandi or Lani.

Q: Where/when will we receive our bingo cards? Are they individual?
A: Bingo cards will be posted in the vommebt bingo channel on 4/2/2025. There will be 2 general bingo cards that readers can choose from (an NSFW and a SFW).

Q: How will we be showing/proving that we’ve marked off a bingo square?
A: It will mostly be an honor system. Everyone in this server is an adult and we expect people to act as such. This meant to be fun and supportive. You can use the squares to share what works you’ve commented on! And we highly encourage you to share your progress.

Inspired by a tumblr post riffing off R.S. Benedict’s quote:
“Everyone is beautiful but nobody is horny.”
Which is from an essay on the desexulization of the exceedingly beautiful characters in modern visual media.
I can no longer find the tumblr post, but they were disecting the prevalance of characters within modern romance books having sex but aren’t particularly sexually charged, not like the bodice rippers of the past.
All of the prompts are old bodice ripper books. Get your inspo from the incredible art, the fun titles, and/or the summary.
Do note that all of these books are hetero as they are all from a period which queer romance wasn’t published like it is now.
(By golly do I wish modern queer books did cover art like these tho but that’s a diverted topic lol) Anyways, don’t feel constrained by the sexuality of the source material.
