I LOVE this firefly art project done by kids ages 6-13! This is a multimedia project using a wax resist for those bright bug lights and jar outlines, then of course watercolor, finished off with some India ink and black uniball pen for the smallest details. We experimented with wet watercolor techniques, letting colors flow into one another, and discussed movement in art- trying to make the fireflies look as though they are buzzing all about and out of the jars. Did touch acrylics after so long, and here is a simple painting for you all. It's such a magical view when fireflies light up the dark forest. Never did witness this magic happen but I can always imagine it as I am a girl who loves fireflies alot, and who believes in fairytales, angles, magic and everything unreal.
