Twisted Clay on Instagram: "Trimming these lidded pots definitely has a lot of steps. When we do these in our studio classes, I call this part centering for days. It feels like each step you have to re-center to be sure you are trimming properly. Personally I feel the end product is definitely worth all the centering. If you are not into meticulous pots though, this might not be the project for you or if you do decide to tackle it, just make one or two of them so you don’t get frustrated by the last one. Having said that, these seem to get quite a bit of use at my house. They seem like a useless but cute jar, but the fact that they are small makes them very versatile. I have small jars that are used in my kitchen and bedroom. I seem to always need a small jar to store something." Twisted Clay on Instagram: "This closed form lidded pot is up there with one of my favorite pots to make. Once the top is closed, you can press down on the piece with a rib to make a relatively flat top. This is possible because the air inside is supporting the pot. Because there is trapped air, it is also much easier to move to the board without messing up the piece. The one thing you have to remember is not to get too fussy with the slip that gathers where the flange is formed. It is best to leave this to trimming as it can make matters worse if you try and remove it when it is too soft."
