Handmade Stoneware Pottery on Instagram: "Small mishima bowls. I’ve been working on something new, I took these to @potfest.co.uk last year. I’ve been calling it Mishima, but it’s actually originally a Korean technique, here’s a good description from @minsooyuhceramics ‘This is a Inhwa technique which is a method that specifically uses stamps to inlay. It’s a part of inlay technique called Sanggam. Korean potters adapted and developed the inlay technique into clay, which is Sanggam’. I’ll be posting more and with some demonstrations. #smoothblackclay @valentineclays" Nerikomi Pottery, Korean Pottery, 2023 Mood, Ceramic Ideas, Black Clay, Stoneware Pottery, Pottery Ideas, Something New, Stoneware

Let me know what part of this demo helps you if you are trying it out! I’d love to know what questions you all have.

As a heads up: This technique took me a long to time get the hang of and practice is what I would prescribe to anyone struggling with doing an inlay technique like mishima.
For me it has been so rewarding to take my illustrations and put them on my pieces. I have always dabbled in many mediums of art and 2D was always a favorite, but it lacked the utilitarianism that I need. This way I can have both 2D and utility. I truly have so much fun exploring surface design on pottery. Thank you for taking your time as always and sharing it with me as I run my small business. 🫶🏼🌸 | Inlay Ceramics, Design On Pottery, Inlay Pottery, Mishima Pottery, Mishima Ceramics, Environment Facts, Mediums Of Art, Pottery Inspo, What Questions
