Scott and Amy painted their living room's shiplap walls white, and left the ceiling unfinished to add extra warmth to the space. It is certainly a lovely and welcoming room!!! DIY shiplap walls and farmhouse trim - NewlyWoodwards

Yes. We are STILL working on the basement and the DIY shiplap walls. (We started the basement project back in June.) This is real life DIY. And real life DIY comes with pregnancy and bed rest (me) and 5 broken ribs (Ryan). That means that finishing the basement has taken about 3 months longer than we anticipated. But, I think it will be worth the wait.

Lake House Knotty Pine Paneling Restoration

Here are some after pictures of the paneling restoration. Each of these boards was removed, numbered, stripped and sanded. A white stain was added and completed with two coats of tung oil. The cabin is in a wooded area and the original orange paneling seemed to darken the house. We decided to refinish it in an updated bright finish. In the corner is a shelf made from a rescued door.
