Blaxian - untitled

Posted by 1 site • On SoundCloud • Also on: Spotify
D.C.'s Blaxian is making waves with a throwback R&B sound that hits "some kind of heightened frequency," says Digital High. "This new tune embodies the 'It's complicated' mantra as the young soloist navigates tumult through synthful runs, pop artifacting, and his ooey-gooey falsetto."

SORRY - Jetplane

Posted by 2 sites • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
Domino-signed British band Sorry sample Guided By Voices into "a slinky, sinister, bass-driven track the likes of which this band has always done so well," says Stereogum. It's the second new track to emerge since their acclaimed 2022 LP.

Charif Megarbane - Hanadi

Posted by 1 site • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
Lebanese artist Charif Megarbane continues his prolific "Lebrary" music output. His latest album crosses "funk with lounge, Arabic pop, psych-rock, hip-hop and other varied sounds, crafting a lush and versatile mixtape of headphone candy gems that connect the playful scoring of Piero Umiliani with the intrigue of John Barry and the analog beats of Madlib," says Treble. "Outstanding stuff."

Cold Specks - How it Feels

Posted by 2 sites • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
Somali Canadian singer-songwriter Ladan Hussein, aka Cold Specks, returns to Mute Records with a stripped-back new collection fusing gospel, folk, and art rock. Bandcamp notes, "One of the things that makes Cold Specks work is the distinctiveness of Hussein's voice—full of deep crags and wonderful wavers—and on Midnight it wisely leads the songs rather than the other way around."

49th & Main - Mr Rain

Posted by 2 sites • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
Following several years of buzz, Irish dance-pop duo 49th & Main announce their full-length debut on Ninja Tune's Counter Records. Acid Stag calls this single "a groovy offering filled with sun-kissed goodness that evokes the best of summer instantly."
FEATURED ALBUM

Barker - Stochastic Drift

Posted by 1 site • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
Berlin-based musician and Stack favorite Barker releases Stochastic Drift, "both a synthesis of his wilderness years and a thrilling inflection point," says Pitchfork, naming it Best New Music. "In a field of brilliant ambient techno producers, he's delivered his most dazzling and definitive statement to date." It's out on Smalltown Supersound.
GOOD MIX
Resident Advisor presents a new mix from Barker: "All in all, it's an hour of music crafted for contemplation, collective euphoria, or heads-down epiphany—or for that matter, any moment, really, its emotive depth seemingly endless."
GOOD READ

For BrainWorms, Arthur Jones on Medieval-themed ambient music for the new Dark Age:

"Dungeon Synth yearns for a mythological past that's constructed from fragments of imagination rather than historical reality."

Thanks for listening!
