There’s such recency bias in fandom. As an author you post something, get a few reactions, and then it goes off into the bin. As a reader you check the tags, see what’s new, and move on. But a lot of old stuff is really good. It’s just sitting there, gathering dust, waiting for someone to take a peek.
FMA03 Scar is just so bishie. He looks like he’s in danger of starting a boy band any second. He’s so delicate. So streamline and alluring. He was an extra in a shojo anime who stumbled on set and they were like “shit man we needed someone to play the vengeful murderer youre hired”
And Brotherhood Scar is just so goddamn shredded. 80% jawline. 15% cheek bones. 5% man pain. Dude coulda bench-pressed Sloth out of the fucking Briggs fortress if he’d just been around for it. Testosterone is ashamed of its masculinity around Brotherhood!Scar. Someone chiseled a block of marble and it started talking and everyone just rolled with it.
How are these two the same character howd this happen I’m just fucking laughing
“My emotions are very complex and sometimes I cry while writing free-verse poetry.”
i CANNOT stop thinking about this job ad. i am absolutely losing it over the implication that someone is going to apply to this job who 1) loves chasing birds and 2) is disturbingly competetive about it
I’d like to draw attention to a couple of stories where immigrants were detained by ICE–a mother and her 3 children in New York and a couple who owned a kebab shop in New Jersey–but in both cases, they were released after outrage from their respective communities. The superintendent of the children’s school was “leading efforts to ensure the family’s release” in the NY case, and Haddon Township residents donated over $300,000 to the NJ couple’s GoFundMe for their legal fees.
This is why it matters for communities to support its members and speak out against injustice. This administration will not do everything it wants as long as people keep fighting back.
really funny when westerners are like “wah our continents don’t have big awesome animals like africa does” and then they literally have bears and horses and bison and moose and giant fuckoff massive pigs and wolves and more. like i’m pretty sure both of our continents have big animals. big and awesome even. do you know the lengths i’d go to to see a big big pig. i’ve never seen a real pig that was big before. i want to see a piggy. how are you ungrateful to the biggy piggies
i need feminism because when jesus does a magic trick it’s a goddamn miracle but when a woman does a magic trick she gets burned at the stake
fabulous
i mean they did also kill jesus. that was a pretty significant thing that happened. like i understand where you’re coming from here but they very much did kill jesus.
life-saving tips for running a (very) small business when your default state is Tired & in Pain:
Peel & seal envelopes. BAM done don’t have to mess with nasty glue (which might also seal the envelope closed if you have to store mailing supplies through humid hell summers)
PRE-PERFORATED printable sticker sheets for address labels. I am investing in these now because hand-writing more than one address kills me. I have also used a guillotine to hand-cut unperforated label sheets but that is one more pain-causing step and you’re wasting supplies if you can’t fill the entire sheet in one go
that’s it those are my big two for now but I’ll add more if I think of them
can i add spring loaded scissors!! regular scissors for the amount of shit i have to cut for the shop wrecks my hands even if i use the guillotine for what i can but these things are lifesavers
a relatively small piece of insanity amidst the insane collapse all around, but a personally painful one. the wilson center received $14 million per year from congress. with that money, it operated one of the best, most important archival research centers for eastern europe, russia and eurasia, and the cold war. in particular, the sprawling cold war archives are instrumental for new studies, and many authors received critical support from its cold war international history project, creating new generations of scholarship and research for a relative pittance. all of that’s gone—who knows for how long the website will stay up. the US at least made some attempt to understand its stated adversaries during the cold war
i beat myself up for not knowing enough about my special interests a lot but then i remember the average person off the street has no idea what the carboniferous is and i feel better
are you really bad at it or are you in “good at it” spaces
Me: ah shit, I misidentified that yellow rumped warbler as a female goldfinch, I should literally be hung at the gallows for this. I’m such an IDIOT
My friend, pointing at a vulture: check out that fucked up crow lol
Back in November there was a vote for a judge in North Carolina and the Democrat judge just narrowly won.
The republicans don’t like that, so they decided that election fraud happened (of course) and they’re just going to throw away over 65,000 votes unless you can meet their standards.
If you live in North Carolina and you voted for the Democrat judge, you will have to re-register in TWO WEEKS if you don’t want your vote to be thrown away!
