Most times, the resort to violence by young Nigerians is stricto sensu, an expression of accumulated anger and frustration due to endemic socio-economic deprivation and untoward political environment. Studies show that failure of government to put in place necessary social protection measures bring about a concentric circle of disturbances, displacement and enormous social challenges. In Nigeria, the repercussion of the episodes of violent social movements (Boko Haram, Herdsmen/Farmers imbroglio and others), posit a clear tale of unabated cases of internal displacement of persons (IDPs) and the challenges it portends. This article therefore proposes the crafting and implementation of a clear-cut social protection policy framework, primarily to douse growing motivation towards violence and as a life-line to emergency management in Nigeria. Attention is drawn to the transformative social policy approach, endowed to serve as a preclusive therapy for risk, social disruption, and vulnerability.
