When Jamie found this lovely mid-century modern dresser at a Salvation Army store fo only $50, she knew she’d hit the jackpot. Though she didn’t love the yellowing tone of the piece, and the finish was in bad shape (especially on the top), the lines and solid construction made it a great choice for an update.Jamie used Citristrip to remove the old finish, coating the entire dresser then leaving it to sit overnight.

This midcentury-style dresser has been salvaged, restored and refinished. The drawers have been sanded and stained in a pretty walnut and the body of the dresser has been painted in a rich black from Melange paint. The top of this MidCentury Modern dresser has been sanded and top coated with a furniture salve to match the drawers. In addition to the body of the dresser, the middle drawers have been painted in black and they have drawer pulls stained in walnut. All drawers work well and 6 of them have been lined with a pretty design paper. This is a very sturdy, classy piece that would be perfect for any room in the house. It can be used as a dresser, a tv stand, or a dining buffet. Here's how I made over this laminatge MCM dresser that I found at a yard sale for cheap!

After cleaning everything and scuffing up the slick surfaces, I primed the laminate with KILZ Restoration primer, painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Oxford Navy and sealed it with Behr Water Based Polyurethane.

The incredible mid century handles got a little refresh with some Rustoleum Metallic Gold and the legs were sanded back to show off the only wood part of this thing and stained in Minwax Early American penetrating wood stain.

Not too bad for a $5 yard sale dresser, right!?!?
